09 February 2017
Since the beginning of 2017 Zenrec has received 100's of CV's for our Northern Ireland jobs. Unfortunately quite a few have been immediately rejected due to a number of key reasons.
Why your CV will be rejected:
NOT ENOUGH INFO
We've recently received CV's which are only 10 lines long. Employers will not accept this. You must have the following key information on your CV:
- Contact info
- Brief intro to yourself
- Work Experience
- References x2
Bad spelling on a CV is not acceptable to most employers. Before saving it, spell check and read over it twice.
LITTLE/TOO MUCH WORK EXPERIENCE INFO
When explaining your work experience, you should write the following info for each employer you worked for:
- Name of employer
- Dates employed
- Reason for leaving
- 5-8 bullet points on your daily task and experience gained.
CV NOT TAILORED
What do we mean by this? For example, if your applying for a sales role and your CV only promotes your admin abilities it will be rejected. Key points to remember include:
- If you're applying for a sales role then your CV should promote your sales experience and how you have sales skills.
- Read the essential criteria on the job you which to apply for and tailor your CV to show you match the criteria needed.
- Remember, in a lot of cases, people may not meet all the criteria set out by the employer. If you do not have al the essential criteria but your CV is tailored you have a much better chance at success.
WRONG CONTACT INFO
This is very frustrating for recruiter and employers alike. You've done all your hard work, they want to speak with you and BANG, your contact info is wrong. Key information that needs to be correct:
- Full Name
- Current Address
- Landline Number
- Mobile Number
- Email address
We hope this helps you with your CV writing and if you need any further assistance please call us on 02838151112 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
